Translation Rights Agreement

Before you can translate and republish a literary work, you need to secure the rights from the owner with this Translation Rights Agreement.

  • The owner of the rights grants the publisher the exclusive right in perpetuity to translate the work from English into a different language, and to publish and sell the translated work within a designated territory.
  • The publisher will pay the owner a royalty for all sales of the translated work. The publisher agrees to pay a non-refundable minimum guaranteed royalty, to be treated as an advance against royalties coming due thereafter.
  • No translated copies will be sold as remainders for a stated period of time after the first publication. No royalty will be paid on remainders sold below publisher's cost.
  • The owner reserves the right to approve the final translation.
  • The publisher is responsible for obtaining copyright protection for the translation in the territory (if available), and for taking any action necessary to protect against infringement.
  • The owner retains ownership of copyright in the original work, and of all of its trademarks and logos used in connection with the translation.
  • The publisher must comply with all applicable export restrictions.
  • Available in MS Word format.
