Enduring Power of Attorney in Relation to Personal Care and Welfare | New Zealand

An Enduring Power of Attorney (an "EPA") allows you to appoint another person to act as your agent ("attorney") to make decisions for you relating to your personal care and welfare only in the event that you become incapable of doing so.
You may authorise your attorney to act generally in respect of your personal care and welfare or with whatever conditions and restrictions you decide.
The attorney also has statutory restrictions imposed on their powers which are specified in the form.

The Power of Attorney allows you to appoint another individual or a trustee corporation to act as your agent (attorney) in matters relating to your property only, under the New Zealand Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988. This authority DOES NOT extend to medical or personal care decisions.
You can authorise the attorney to act in respect of all of your property or only such property as you specify. The attorney may also have conditions and restrictions imposed on its powers as detailed in the document.
You can choose if the power of attorney is to remain in effect in the event you become mentally incapable, or whether it will only become effective if that should happen.
