• The Assignment is between the current landlord, the purchaser of the property (new landlord) and the tenant, and is part of the documentation required to sell the premises to the new owner.
• The current landlord assigns the lease to the new landlord, and the tenant covenants to pay rent to the new owner and continue to perform the tenant's obligations under the lease.
• The current landlord and the purchaser agree to indemnify each other against any claims or actions arising out of any breach of the terms of the assignment.

MT landlords, if your tenant has left personal property behind after moving out, you must serve them with this Notice of Abandonment before you can dispose of the property.

• The Notice must be given in accordance with the Montana Landlord and Tenant Act. It includes a Service of Notice form, to record the details of how the service was effected on the tenant
• The Notice informs the tenant that the landlord believes the personal property left at the premises was abandoned and has removed and stored it for safekeeping.
• The tenant has 15 days to remove the property or the landlord will sell or otherwise dispose of it.

Montana landlords, extend the term of a tenant's lease with this template Residential Lease Extension Agreement.

• The landlord and tenant must both agree to extend the lease term for an additional period.
• The lease cost now becomes a monthly rental payment for the duration of the extended term.
• All other provisions of the original lease which are not amended in the Extension Agreement remain the same.
• This Agreement is for residential leases only. For commercial properties, a different form is required.

• The Statement sets out the amount of the original security deposit and any additional deposits, less any deductions being made for unpaid rent or utilities, cleaning charges, repair charges, etc.
